With the exception of comments from other unemployed folk, our feeler was pretty much met with almost deafening silence. So, were going to have to start looking into the “cycling in Siberia” idea. We’re not too upset about it. We’ve been travelling for about 12 months now and we quite like the lifestyle after all. Sure, we’re a little stinky most of the time, but we get to cycle all day, see beautiful places and meet interesting people. The pay is crap but the hours are flexible. The only problem of course: the ever shrinking bank account. We need to find a way to prolong this experience as long as possible. So, it looks like we have some brainstorming to do. There must be something we can do; somewhere our experiences frivolously traipsing around the world can add some value….
I’m drawing a blank right now too, but we’re determined to think of something. We have a starting point: a) Spiros takes beautiful pictures b) He can play the accordion c) I have those red pants and d) we really have no shame whatsoever. We used to have some pride, but I checked; it’s pretty much all gone now. Kinda freeing actually! Anyway, we think that last one should really work in our favor.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Oh, and cheques, cheques would be good too.

I will gladly you send you some money if you are serious. Not much but something to help! I think you should publish this whole blog as it is in a book. I know there are websites where you can do this yourself or find a publisher. I will definitely buy this book. It is an amazing account and reflection on experiences that so many can participate in and enjoy.

Wow, thank you Janice. That is very, very kind of you. We were just kidding about the money thing, but thank you very much for offering.
We are really happy that you are enjoying the blog. It was our intention to share our experiences when we decided to go on this journey. It’s wonderful to know that people are following along.

Hi M&S,
I do not get to your blog as often as I would like to, being caught up in the rat race and all. Paul & I would love to be doing what you are doing and I am sure most of your readers (if not all) would share my sentiment. Happy New Year, Happy Anniversary for the trip - I know I am a bit belated. Anyway, when I read your Feeler post, I was thinking what Janice wrote and then there were my thoughts - in her words; great minds… :-). You could punctuate your writing with some of Spiros’ beautiful photography in a book. And you could also have a book of Spiros’ photos. You could turn your blog posts into articles and try to sell them to travel publications, etc.? Anyway you can grab some coding tools and contract your dev services while on the road? Work project by project? Oh, if you can stay travelling, I would totally recommend it - as long as you are enjoying it. Paul & I went to Australia and came back after two years and it was wonderful to be back and see friends and family here again, but how quickly it all becomes routine again! I could go on, but have to take the Christmas tree to be chipped - errands and more errands. I will still ask my contacts about any roles for you if you come back - I can think of two people in particular; we were chatting about you just the other day! Rachel

Maria,
I’m sensing a sing and dance act……
Can you dance in those red pants while Spiros plays the accordian? Can you add a pair of red shoes to the duet?
That might work….video it and send it to America’s got Talent….or American Idol (don’t show it to your Canadian fans) and hope that Simon Cowell sees the video and makes snides comments to the point that you end up with trillions of hits on this website. Ask Joachim how to arrange it so that every hit gives you a buck or two. Easy money while you keep pedaling!!!

Hi Rachel,
Thank you very, very much for the kind words, the great suggestions and for offering to ask around for me when we get back!! We both really appreciate it. Oh, and you can be sure we’ll be stretching out the travelling as long as we possibly can.

Hi Janet,
I have to say that is a brilliant idea. Spiros plays the accordion while I dance. He has the better voice so he’ll do the singing too. How do you think “Don’t you wish your girlfriend was hot like me?” would sound on the accordion? Unfortunately, the budget dictates that there won’t be any new red shoes; it’ll have to be red pants, beige socks and my green keen sandals. I think this can work!

Enough talking, Maria! Ask Spiros to put that awesome camera on a tripod or something and start practicing. You can review the images and improve. And post some of those online ASAP

Hi Maria,
How about selling some unique stuff found from the interesting places you had visited on eBay?
I have been following your blog along too and look forward to reading more exciting adventures from this blog!

Thanks Polly. That is a great suggestion. We never thought of that one.
