We cycled along Lago Di Garda and eventually made our way to Verona. We had heard that Verona is a very beautiful city. In fact, the town centre is a Unesco World Heritage sight. With its huge arena, roman ruins and many beautiful churches it’s a great place to stroll around and soak up the atmosphere. We plan to take the next few days to do just that. Should be nice!
We’re also going to go watch Aida at the arena tonight. By the looks of the crowd coming out of the arena last night, people get really gussied up. We’re talking suits, gowns and up-dos. I guess it’s to be expected, it is the opera after all. Even if I had such an outfit, I have absolutely no energy or desire to do the primping, prodding, stuffing and, squeezing into that would be required for me to look halfway up to par. Can you imagine the number of hours that would take…or the size of the workforce that would be required?! Yikes!
Bah…this is a tourist town, I’m sure we won’t be the only ones in Keen sandals and tattered safari wear or the only ones carrying backpacks with forks sticking out of the pockets.

Verona is beautiful. I hope you enjoyed the views from the top of the hill and maybe visited the San Zeno church? I’ve seen Aida there, too, years ago and it was really a great show. I hope you enjoyed it, too. Maybe not so much the hot seats… I rememeber having to stand up from time to time because the stone seats were still radiating so much heat
