Sending out Happy Thoughts

As you all know, Spiros has had a bit of bad luck on this tour; broken collar bone, bad infection accompanied by fever and sever pain, sudden and mysterious swelling of his knee, his ankles and other odd lumps appearing on his legs. Seeing that he keeps getting injured and we now only have a few more weeks to go till Cape Town, we’ve decided to take a few extra precautions to ensure he crosses that finish line. We have decided to do the following:

1) Wrap him up in bubble wrap every morning before the ride.
2) Douse him in mosquito repellent DEET, just in case a mosquito gets in between him and the bubble wrap
3) Keep him away from scissors, sharp knives and other pointy items
4) Sacrifice a chicken or two to the cycling gods (Yes, I know we are vegetarians. I do see the irony but we’ve really had enough now)
5) True to our Greek heritage, “fake spit” at him every day to ward off evil and bad luck
6) Send out positive thoughts into the universe.
7) Score some good karma points by incessantly complimenting people: “Wow…you’re cycling like the wind today”…or… “Wow. On you, bike short tan lines look sexy!”

We are also avoiding black cats, mirrors and walking under ladders. If he so much as gets a paper cut (not that I am letting him anywhere near paper), I am putting him in a giant protective bubble and rolling him over the finish line. (Yes, of course that counts!). So, please cross your fingers, think good thoughts and send some more positive energy our way. Muchos gracias!

P.S. Okay, I’m sure some of you think its’ in bad taste to make light of the situation. We’ve been through shock, denial, disappointment, acceptance, and now we just want t o have a little bit a fun with it. Laughing is a good thing.
